There is a total of twelve levels and three Toad Houses (one of each kind) in this world, making it the longest world in New Super Mario Bros. The first half of the map is located at the seaside while the second half is located inland, where the jungle is, although the levels can take place between any of the two locations regardless of its position on the world map. This world is unlocked after completing World 2-Castle or World Mushroom-Castle. The world is also similar to World 3 from New Super Mario Bros. This world is both beach and jungle-themed, although the map music is recycled from World 4 of New Super Mario Bros. Gallery ( Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros.World 3 is the third normal world appearing in New Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plants have a variant named Red Piranha Plants that ignore this and emerge regardless, making them harder to avoid than regular Piranha Plants. If Mario or another playable character stands either on top or next to the pipe, the Piranha Plant does not emerge. In the Super Mario series, they have a pattern of moving in and out of one. Piranha Plants are often found inhabiting a Warp Pipe. In Mario Kart series, some courses have Warp Pipes that characters can drive through. Warp Pipes come in varying sizes, although most are slightly wider than the average human. A Warp Pipe usually faces in either of the four cardinal directions, and certain ones appear in midair. Some Warp Pipes only send the user straight underground, where there is usually one to take them above ground. Some Warp Pipes take the user a long distance, including between worlds, and others do shorter distances. The distance traveled through a Warp Pipe varies for each one. Warp Pipes are typically green, but they have also appeared in colors such as red or yellow. Some Warp Pipes cannot be re-entered from the other end. Since Super Mario Bros., the main purpose of Warp Pipes is to transport Mario, Luigi, and other characters to another destination, reached from exiting the other end of the Warp Pipe. series, Warp Pipes are used to travel enemies around.
